Hampshire and Isle of Wight Wildlife Trust is the leading local nature conservation charity. We seek to increase people’s involvement in their local environment and in turn create better conditions for wildlife on land and in the sea.

The East Wight Woodland Apprentices will help on the practical delivery of the Trust’s Woodland Apprentices Project funded by the Down to the Coast initiative. Overseen by the East Wight Woodlands Assistant the role will provide practical experience and an accredited environmental qualification and apprenticeship with Sparsholt College. The apprenticeships will focus on the management of neglected woodland in the East Wight in close co-operation with landowners and the Forestry Commission. This suite of sites offers great opportunities for land management for biodiversity and people engagement, due to their locations.

We need 4 East Wight Woodland Apprentices, physically fit with a practical aptitude GCSE Maths and English but above all a great passion and enthusiasm for working in the environment. The apprenticeship will provide on the ground practical experience alongside a Level 2 diploma in Environmental Conservation through Sparsholt College, training in a wide range of tools (including power tools) and habitat management techniques.
