Discover our local marine species and lead surveys of our shorelines, as part of our Secrets of the Solent project.

This role involves assisting with, and then leading, intertidal surveys alongside the Solent coastline. You’ll help those taking part to identify the animals and habitats they encounter, increasing their wildlife knowledge and gathering data to support conservation efforts.

This role is part of our Heritage Lottery funded-project Secrets of the Solent, which is celebrating the amazing wildlife and people that share the Solent’s coast and waters. Becoming a Marine Champion is a great way to support this brilliant project while also gaining new skills and wildlife knowledge.

You don’t need any particular background or experience for this role, just a passion for wildlife and a love for the Solent environment. You’ll receive full training to prepare you, and ongoing support from the project team. Depending on what activities you’re involved with, we might also ask you to undergo a DBS check.
