Weave-A-Fish

Whether you're a nifty knitter or first-class at crochet, it's always rewarding to transform textiles into art. As part of Secrets of the Solent, we're teaming up with local crafters to combine their passion with learning about our marine wildlife.

To join us, simply choose a species found in our waters and create it in your favourite fabric medium, such as knitting, crochet, weaving, embroidery, or patchwork. If you’re taking part with a craft group we can offer an online marine talk for your members and some budget for materials.

Our friends at Guardians of the Deep have some brilliant knitting and crochet patterns to try, but we'd like to highlight a wide range of local species. If you use your own design and are happy to share it with others then do get in touch - we'd love to hear from you.

Once your piece is done, pop it in the post to our Beechcroft House office. Be sure to include a note telling us your name, how long your piece took to make, which species you chose, and why it appealed to you. All contributions will be used for exhibitions and yarn-bombing in the near future.
