About the event

Join us for an evening with celebrated author and storyteller Lisa Schneidau - author of the acclaimed book River Folk Tales of Britain and Ireland. A dive into the realm of the fantastical, the book weaves stories of ghosts, monsters, and goddesses into a spellbinding tapestry. At this event, Lisa will tell some of her favourite folk tales, and explore how they reflect our relationship with rivers.

Lisa is a performance storyteller, author, and environmentalist living in Devon. After training as an ecologist, she spent 25 years working with Wildlife Trusts all over the country as a river surveyor, lobbyist, farm advisor, and conservation director. She now specialises in using traditional stories about land, sea, and sky to explore our connections with the natural world. She is the bestselling author of River Folk Tales of Britain and Ireland, Botanical Folk Tales, and Woodland Folk Tales.

This event is part of the Tales from the Riverbank Literature Festival - a celebration of how rivers inspire creativity. This festival is a collaboration between the Watercress and Winterbournes Landscape Partnership Scheme and Hampshire Library Service.
