Join the Movement for a Wilder Future
Nature is in crisis. Across Hampshire and the Isle of Wight, wildlife and wild places are under increasing pressure, and environmental protections are too often seen as barriers to progress. Yet nature is not an obstacle to prosperity. It is the foundation of healthy communities, a stable climate and a resilient economy.
At Hampshire & Isle of Wight Wildlife Trust, our Wilder Strategy sets out how we will drive nature’s recovery, respond to the climate and nature crises, and create healthier, more resilient communities. But lasting change cannot be delivered by organisations alone.
It depends on people.
Research shows that when around 1 in 4 people take action, it can create a tipping point for wider societal change. That’s why we created Team Wilder. It was launched here in Hampshire and the Isle of Wight and has since grown into a national movement for nature’s recovery, empowering people to take practical action in their gardens, neighbourhoods, schools, workplaces and local seas.
Together, we are changing the story. Together, we are creating a future where nature is protected, restored and valued as the foundation of thriving communities.

What is Team Wilder?
Team Wilder is a growing movement of people taking practical action for nature where they live.
Across Hampshire and the Isle of Wight, individuals, schools, businesses and community groups are creating space for wildlife, restoring local green spaces and influencing decisions that affect the natural world.
By turning local efforts into shared momentum, Team Wilder is helping to drive nature’s recovery at the scale needed to make a lasting difference.
How do I join?
If you’re taking action for wildlife - you’re part of Team Wilder. Whether you’re planting for pollinators, creating space for nature in your neighbourhood, reducing your environmental impact, bringing people together, or influencing decisions that affect the natural world, it all counts.
Team Wilder is a movement you join by acting. Every positive step for nature helps build momentum and brings us closer to a wilder Hampshire and Isle of Wight.
If you’re already taking action, or planning to, add it to the Wilder Actions Map and become part of a visible, growing network of people standing up for wildlife. Each pin represents someone choosing to make a difference.
You can also join our mailing list to receive practical guidance, local inspiration and updates on events and opportunities happening near you. However you choose to get involved, you’re helping to tip the balance back in nature’s favour.

Our Wilder Communities
Behind every thriving movement are strong local relationships.
Across Hampshire and the Isle of Wight, dedicated Wilder Communities Officers support the growth of Team Wilder on the ground. With officers based in Southampton, Portsmouth, Basingstoke and the Isle of Wight, we work alongside residents, schools and local partners to help ideas develop into sustained, community-led action.
From helping new groups get started to connecting people with practical resources, training and guidance, our officers enable communities to take confident action for nature.
While based in key locations, their work strengthens a connected network of communities across the whole region ensuring that local action adds up to lasting change.
