Report a marine mammal sighting

We're collecting data on marine mammals in our region's waters, and we need your help to do it. Let us know about your sightings of seals, dolphins, porpoises, and whales in the local area, whether on land or at sea.

By sharing your sightings, you'll contribute to our monitoring of marine mammal populations in our area. This data is invaluable for informing our conservation activities, and can provide evidence to support  our calls for greater legal protections such as Marine Conservation Zones.

Please share your sightings in as much detail as possible - if you can include photos or videos this is incredibly helpful too, as it provides much stronger evidence to support the data we collect.

We're gathering this and other marine data as part of our marine project Secrets of the Solent. There are lots of ways to get involved, including helping us to monitor the populations of vulnerable species through citizen science.
