One of our most valued collaborators is Wightlink, who have been supporting us since 2021 in our mission to create a Wilder Wight. Their commitment has already made a real difference to the way we protect, restore, and celebrate wildlife across the Island and in the Solent.
When our teams need to travel across to the Isle of Wight, Wightlink helps to cover the cost of the journey. This might sound simple, but the impact is significant. Every ticket we don’t need to buy means more funds can go directly into habitat restoration, species reintroductions, and inspiring communities to connect with nature - knowing that travel is taken care of allows us to channel more energy into the vital work of conservation.
One project that Wightlink make a significant contribution to with their in-kind support, is the Solent Seagrass Restoration Project. During the seed collection process, the team focus their main efforts on two areas each year: Calshot off Southampton Water, and Seaview on the Isle of Wight. This means a lot of back and forth across the Solent, and Wightlink’s practical support makes a substantial difference, enabling our marine team to focus their efforts on restoring one of our most important marine habitats.
