Do you have a passion for wildlife? Are you an experienced community engagement professional with a proven track record of working within urban communities? We are looking for an inspirational Wilder Communities Project Officer, experienced in community engagement and action to join our Communications and Engagement Team.

This is an exciting new role for the Trust to help us take forward and test our Wilder Hampshire & Isle of Wight campaign and strategy.  We are the leading local nature conservation charity and one of the largest of the county-based Wildlife Trusts with a lively, dedicated and passionate team of 90 staff and 1400 volunteers.

Wildlife is in free-fall and we are witnessing dramatic declines in many species and important habitats. We know that a healthy, wildlife-rich natural world is essential for our well-being and prosperity.  We urgently need to tip the balance in favour of nature’s recovery. To achieve this we need more people on nature’s side and more space for wildlife to thrive and this is why we believe that we need at least 1 in 4 people to take notice and take action.  We must find ways to build a nature recovery network across our neighbourhoods, towns, cities, countryside and throughout our counties – creating and connecting wild places.

This exciting new role has two connected areas of focus, a Hampshire and Isle of Wight wide “Team Wilder” approach to catalyse community led initiatives across the two counties and a funded “Wilder Portsmouth” project with a focus on linking the local community and key stakeholders across the city to act for wildlife.  You will need to demonstrate experience and expertise in engaging people (from individuals to whole streets and communities), businesses and key partners to take local action and help bring wildlife back to their lives.
