Isle of Wight Reserves Volunteer

Location: Isle of Wight - meeting at pre-arranged specific reserves or at Little Duxmore Farm base.

Times, days and frequency we’d like you to be available: Tuesdays and/or Fridays

Purpose of role: To provide seasonal reserve management support.

Tasks involved in this role: 

• Winter scrub clearance
• Fencing
• Hay making
• Balsam bashing
• General site maintenance

Skills and abilities needed: 

Essential: 

• Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions
• Raking
• Digging
• Carrying
• Weeding
• Trimming

Desirable: 

• Hand tool use (loppers, shears, hammers, mallets)
• Ticketed experience with brushcutters/hedgetrimmers (training provided where required/desired)

Specific considerations: 

• This role requires good physical health and spation co-ordination to carry out role safely.
• Ability to provide/arrange own transport to and from sites.
