About the event

Join Wilder Communities Officer, Steve Bolton, for an introductory training workshop on butterflies and how to record them. The workshop consists of:

  • 1 hour presentation covering an introduction to butterflies, how to identify common and target species in the area and recording methods from simple surveys to transects.
  • 1.5 hour guided walk around nearby St Catherines Hill nature reserve looking at butterflies and practising the recording techniques.

The workshop is aimed at beginners but all levels are welcome. It will be a good opportunity to meet like-minded people and learn how we can use butterflies to monitor the health of the environment in your local area.

Parking is available at St Faiths Hall but please car share where possible. Following the talk we will drive to nearby East Winchester Park and Ride car park before walking over to St.Catherines Hill.

Please wear appropriate footwear for walking on uneven ground. Refreshments will be provided.
