Volunteers from the Watercress and Winterbournes scheme joined the GeogPod podcast for a special episode about the Chalk Stream Challenge.

Looking for a new adventure in nature? The Chalk Stream Challenge is a great way to explore some of our most vibrant habitats - delve into a range of resources, from crafts and activities to walking routes and spotter guides. Everything is available for free online; simply download and print.

Since its launch in 2022, the Chalk Stream Challenge has proven a big hit with families and youth groups. Its creators, Hazel Metcalfe and Sarah Smith, later won a 2023 Wilder Award for their achievement. You can now learn more about this amazing initiative through a special episode of the GeogPod podcast.

In the episode, Hazel and Sarah share how they created the challenge as part of their volunteering with the Watercress and Winterbournes scheme. They also take a closer look at some of the activities involved, and explain how these can be adapted for different locations or age groups.
