About the event

Join staff from the Hampshire & Isle of Wight Wildlife Trust for a guided evening bat walk around Broughton Down Nature Reserve. Using bat detectors, we'll listen for different bat species, with the chance to spot them in flight (bat detectors provided).

This event is suitable for beginners of all ages, although children must be accompanied by an adult.

Please note that the route includes very steep, sloping and uneven terrain, requiring a moderate level of fitness and mobility. If you have any questions about accessibility, please get in touch before booking.

£5 per ticket.

When and where

Date: Wednesday 30th of September, 18:30-20:30

Meeting Point: End of Buckholt Road, Stockbridge, SO20 8DA

How to get there

Parking: limited road parking on Buckholt Road. 

From the A3057 between Romsey and Stockbridge, if heading north turn left onto Oakley Road, signposted Mottisfont Abbey Garden. Shortly after the gardens turn left onto Back Lane, then turn right onto the B3084. After 3 miles there is a right turn for Broughton. Immediately after this, turn left onto Buckholt road and park at the end.

Bus stop: Rectory Lane, Broughton (11/2 miles). Andover to Broughton route (Stagecoach). Head towards the main road (B3084), cross over and walk down Buckholt road, then follow directions below from the parking area.

Please ensure you leave enough time to reach the meeting point before the event starts.

What to bring

Please wear warm, layered clothing and sturdy footwear (long sleeved top and trousers advised). A head torch or torch is essential (preferably with a red-light setting to avoid disturbing the bats). Sorry, no dogs (except service dogs).

Additional Information

Please note that bat activity is dependent on weather conditions. In the event of adverse weather, the event may be cancelled at short notice.
