Open Chalk Streams: Cheriton
About the event
Join us for a guided walk through a private fishing beat at Cheriton Mill, which is managed by Portsmouth Services Fly Fishing Association. You'll hear about the many heritage features associated with the mill, water meadows, and ancient watercress beds.
As we explore, you'll have the chance to spot brown trout and a range of insect life, and we'll have spotter guides to help you identify flowers. Our volunteers will pop into the stream for a kick sample, which will let you see which invertebrates are hiding there.
This event is part of Open Chalk Streams, a project within the Watercress and Winterbournes Landscape Partnership Scheme. We're protecting, enhancing, and celebrating the Rivers Test and Itchen headwaters - learn more.
