About the event

Join us for a guided walk along a hidden stretch of chalk stream that meanders through a valley floodplain. This peaceful private fishing beat is only lightly managed, and is a great place to spot insects, birds, and the iconic brown trout.

This event is part of Open Chalk Streams, a project within the Watercress and Winterbournes Landscape Partnership Scheme. We're protecting, enhancing, and celebrating the Rivers Test and Itchen headwaters - learn more.

Key information:

Age range: 18+

Accessibility: Due to low stiles and boggy ground, you must be physically able. Not suitable for those with limited mobility or wheelchair users.

Car parking: Strictly limited parking opposite the cottages on the B3048. Look for the entry gate with a balloon or use what3words code verge.lovely.patrolled. Please note this parking location involves double parking and a steep drop.

Meeting point: At the car parking area.

Other information: Wellies are essential. There is limited shade on site, so a sun hat and water are recommended. Docile cattle will be in the area of the event. No toilets are available, but public toilets can be found by the local shop in St Mary Bourne.
