A community-led project in Bishop's Sutton has been awarded a Watercress and Winterbournes Community Grant, to engage the village residents with their chalk stream.

The year is off to a great start for Bishop's Sutton, where a community-led project has been awarded a Watercress and Winterbournes Community Grant of £4,488. Entitled 'Whispers of Chalk Stream', the project will explore the relationship between the village community and the River Arle. As home to the source of this precious chalk stream, the village has a unique connection to its habitats and wildlife.

The project will be led Helen Clarke and Sharon Witt of Attention2Place - a co-operative of education professionals who specialise in place-based immersive experiences. Through walks, talks, creative workshops, publications, and an exhibition, they will help the community to learn about their chalk stream and consider its significance to the village.

'Whispers of Chalk Stream' will begin on Wednesday 31st January, with a special event in Bishop's Sutton Village Hall from 7-8.30pm - all are welcome. You can sign up for the Watercress and Winterbournes e-newsletter to stay informed about the project's events. Congratulations to Helen and Sharon - the scheme partners are delighted to be supporting this fantastic project.
