About the event

We will spend the morning learning how to identify a number of wildflowers that occur in the meadows of Winnall Moors. We will learn the basics of how to use a plant key to help with wild flower identification. We will also be looking at other wildlife such as butterflies and begin to learn how to identify what we see.

Through observation, discussion and hands-on use of wildlife identification keys you will practice plant and wildlife identification in the field. The course will cover:

  • An overview of the wetland habitat
  • An introduction to plant and wildlife identification & use of keys

During the course you will be walking up to 3 miles on uneven terrain including very wet, boggy ground and bending or kneeling to look at plants. We may need to cross several stiles.
