Salary circa £30,000 pa, depending on qualifications and experience; full-time 35 hours per week; permanent contract; predominantly based in Central and North Hampshire, but working across the Counties.
Hampshire and Isle of Wight Wildlife Trust is the leading local nature conservation charity. We seek to increase people’s involvement in their local environment and in turn create better conditions for wildlife on land and in the sea.
Reporting to the Director of Estates & Conservation Delivery, the post holder will be responsible for the management and day-to-day delivery of the Trusts conservation grazing operation and the team of staff who are responsible for delivering grazing and livestock welfare across Trust nature reserves in Hampshire and the Isle of Wight. It will also involve the management of the Trust’s 2 farms and organisation of meat /livestock sales and purchase and the contract grazing service.
The post holder will need to have in-depth expertise and considerable practical experience regarding livestock regulations, welfare, husbandry, cross compliance and grazing management. The post will be responsible for ensuring the Trust fulfils its legal and contractual obligations associated with conservation grazing as well as meeting public safety obligations.
The post holder will be expected to be able to drive forward the Trust’s move to a stores model, livestock sales, breeding programme and the Trust contract grazing service.
Weekend, evening and emergency call out working will be integral to this post and as a result of the post holder must live locally to the operation.
