Things to look out for:

  • Self guided trail visiting all the major habitats
  • Veteran oak trees hundreds of years old
  • Medieval woodbanks marking boundaries of copses
  • Cattle grazing all year on site

  • Mammals including roe deer, muntjac and foxes
  • Wild service tree
  • Wild daffodil

Winter:

  • Birds: redwing, jay, mixed tit flocks
  • Fungi: dryad, birch polypore

Spring:

  • Adder by Kevin FackrellBirds: marsh tit, blackcap, willow warbler
  • Butterflies: orange tip, comma, speckled wood
  • Moths: drab looper, speckled yellow
  • Reptiles: adder
  • Plants: wood anemone, wild daffodil

Summer:

  • Birds: garden warbler, woodcock
  • Butterflies: white admiral, silver-washed fritillary
  • Dragonflies: golden-ringed, emperor
  • Plants: betony, common cow-wheat

Autumn:

  • Dragonflies: migrant hawker, common darter 
  • Beetles: dor beetle
  • Plants: devil’s-bit scabious
  • Fungi: fly agaric, violet webcap, stinkhorn
