Wild Day Out at Blashford Lakes

During the school holidays, Hampshire & Isle of Wight Wildlife Trust are running a series of ‘Wild Days Out’ at their nature reserve at Blashford Lakes near Ringwood. Aimed at children between 5-7 and 8-12, they are a great way to explore wildlife, learn and have fun all in one day.

Children who come along will have the opportunity to explore Blashford Lakes, looking at the weird and wonderful insects in the meadow and woodland. You’ll be able to see newts and frogs and get close up to fish and other river wildlife.

The sessions are led by Education Officers of the Wildlife Trust, and their knowledge, passion for wildlife and enthusiasm will ensure that the children will come away inspired by what they have experienced.

Each Wild Day Out starts at 10.00am and finishes at 3.00pm and costs £15. Places are limited so booking is essential. Scheduled dates during the school holidays are: August 2nd, 3rd, 14th, 15th, 21st, 22nd, 30th and 31st. For further information and booking details, please contact New Forest District Council, Sport and Community Development on 02380 285102.

Blashford Lakes Centre can be found at Ellingham Drove, near Ringwood, BH24 3PJ (Map ref: SU 151 079). The nature reserve is 2 miles north of Ringwood on the A338.

The Blashford Lakes Project is a partnership between Hampshire & Isle of Wight Wildlife Trust, Sembcorp Bournemouth Water, New Forest District Council and Wessex Water.
