No winners in badger cull vote
The results of today's Opposition debate - calling on the Government to stop the cull of badgers - were not a surprise as there was a three line whip. MPs voted in favour of a badger cull by 298 votes to 237. In October 2012 in a free vote MPs voted against a badger cull.

The Labour Party has announced it will table an Opposition Day debate on Wednesday 5th June 2013 on the Government's plans for a badger cull. The wording for the motion reads 'This House believes the badger cull should not go ahead’.

Hampshire & Isle of Wight Wildlife Trust has launched its annual wildlife photography competition, in search of the best wildlife images from the two counties. Entry is free and there is a £150 prize for the overall winner. The winners from each of the twelve categories will get their picture featured in the Wildlife Trust’s 2014 Wildlife Calendar.

Seven kingfisher eggs have been laid in an artificial nest at Hampshire Wildlife Trust’s Winnall Moors nature reserve, Winchester. The nest, built by Wildlife Trust volunteers under the guidance of Volunteer Coordinator Alex Hogg, contains a next box camera and provides a unique opportunity to reveal the secrets of how a kingfisher builds a nest, lays the eggs and hatches them.
